How To Have A Fulfilling Marriage

Every Christian marriage  today is filled with excited hope.  Like the 1940 Pioneers settlers who crossed the Mississippi River looking for the precious gold!
They were entering into a new land going for precious treasure
.  The way how to have a fulfilling marriage is to keep Jesus Christ at the centre.  With Jesus Christ at the center of a marriage – all these problems can not only be overcome, but by God’s help and grace – they can even be used as ” stepping stones” to success!

how to have a fulfilling marriageReach A New Horizon

Those early pioneers were filled with hope in the expectation of new territory and exciting wonders and perhaps riches that they have never seen before. Entering marriage as a couple is a bit like being a Pioneer Crossing into new territory. A new land of new experiences is stretching out before you both. Although countless couples have gone on before you to enter into the new land of married life, it’s still for you both an unsettled and unexplored land  and a new horizon before you.

Hold Tight Your Dreams

Any pioneers crossing into new Land are filled with two things. The first thing they are filled with his new hope and excitement about what lies in the future. However the pioneers always also experience difficulties.   As a newly married couple you  both need to hold tight your dreams because there will be challenges along the way.

hold tight your dreams.Married couples are like that. They enter marriage with such hopes and dreams and excitement, and rightly so because a marriage with God at it’s center has the potential to be a very wonderful union with great and glorious potential. But as I said, there no doubt will be the challenging presence of difficulties of various kinds; these trials can make marriage stronger if endured with the correct attitude. However they can also destroy!

Communication Problems in a Marriage

This shattering of hopes and dreams need not happen but it is so sad that often a marriages hope shrivels up under the face of difficulties and trials that come.  Such difficulties in marriage sometimes break down what could be such a glorious union and destroy the fresh new hope that the couple had at the start of their relationship.  Communication problems in a marriage can bring discouragement and dismay may even quench the fire of love.

Christian Marriage Counseling

understanding each others sexual needs.Difficulties may take the form of arguments and sharp disagreements between husband and wife. There might also be also problems in the bedroom.  This can occur  when it comes to difficulties in understanding  each other’s sexual needs.  Sometimes trouble lie in difficulties in finances.  Difficulties can take many forms but these can quench, smother and Crush the hope that the newly wed couple had at the start.  Such problems sometimes drive Christian couples to seek Christian Marriage Counseling.

But as we will see in articles to come, with Jesus Christ at the center of a marriage – all these problems can not only be overcome, but by God’s help and grace – they can even be used as ” stepping stones” to a wonderful marriage union.

God Loved The World So Much

Messenger (Evangelist ) Marcus ‘ breaks open; the verse in the New Testament that tells us how God loved the world so much that He gave HIS only begotten Son Jesus. This verse is probably the most well known verse. in scripture. One verse of the bible can hold so much truth and blessing and this verse is no exception. It has much to tell us of God’s nature and unique attributes.

A Profound Scripture

Today I want to talk about a profound scripture. It is probably the best known verse in the Bible. Yes, it is John 3:16. There is much wonderful truth in that scripture. Today we are going to look at that scripture, in more depth. The first thing we are going to do is ask a question. I guess most children ask their parents this question

Who And What Is God To Me

Yes,  I guess most children ask their parents this question: Who and what is God to me? Who made God? In a manner of speaking, God is unknowable and far beyond your comprehension. However, God has revealed himself to us in his word and when we are Children of God and filled with the Holy Spirit, the Lord will reveal many things about him to us. In the Scriptures, God reveals himself as the Eternal God.

Isa 57:15 –  For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

The One Inhabiting Eternity

That means our God never ever had a beginning because He actually dwells in eternity. He existed eternity past and will exist in eternity future. Actually we could say that God exists in the past, present and future simultaneously, because he is “out of time” and is eternal. The fact that God is eternal also means that God will never have an end. All of us, (every human being) and every animal had a beginning and we surely will have an end. For example, I myself was born about 81 years ago, and my mother gave birth to me and gave me life. I definitely had a start. All of you who are listening to the sound of my voice had a beginning. But God does not need to be given life because he not only inhabits eternity and is self-sufficient, but he also has life in himself and is the only source of life.

In Him We Have Our Being

Listen to the truth of the wonder of the self-existent God. In Him we have our very being.   This gracious God is the source of all life and blessing as recorded in acts chapter 17.   Paul is addressing the philosophers of the pagan city of Athens ……….

Acts 17: 24 to 29 – What you worship as something unknown, I now proclaim to you. God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples made by human hands. 25Nor is He served by human hands, as if He needed anything, because He Himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.

and continuing at verse 28 ………..

. 28‘For in Him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are His offspring.’ 29Therefore, being offspring of God, we should not think that the Divine Being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by man’s skill and imagination.

. 28‘For in Him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are His offspring.’ 29Therefore, being offspring of God, we should not think that the Divine Being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by man’s skill and imagination.

Eternal Life Is In Christ

The Lord Jesus told us as recorded  in the Gospel of John Chapter 5 verse 26,  “as the Father has life in Himself, so also He has granted the Son to have life in Himself.
So Amen!  Our wonderful saviour has life in himself and he never had to be given life by anyone or anything. He is in reality full of eternal life, and also ALL THE FULNESS of the Godhead.

Col 2:9, 10 – in Christ all the fullness of the Deity dwells in bodily form. 10And you have been made complete in Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.

What Was The Great Commission?

Our saviour Jesus Christ, after His resurrection gave the church one supreme task. What was the great commission?

Jesus Takes Us High

In Matthew’s gospel chapter 8 we read in the Word of God that after HIS resurrection our Lord Jesus met his disciples on a mountain that he had previously appointed them to meet Him.

Mat 28: 16 to 20 – Meanwhile, the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain Jesus had designated. 17When they saw Him, they worshiped Him, but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19Therefore go and make disciplesd of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

The Word of Power

The Unveiled Misteries

Before the coming of Christ to earth born of the virgin Mary there were ‘misteries.’ Glorious truths that were hidden and veiled before Jesus came to earth that were unveiled and made clear at His coming. The unveiled misteries included Christ himself , who the scriptures declare as The Mystery of God in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, (Colossians 2:2). This glorious Christ is spoken of by the Apostle Paul as being the ‘ The hope of glory.’ Paul writes …..

Colossians 1:25 thru 27 – I  became its servant by the commission God gave me to fully proclaim to you the word of God, the mystery that was hidden for ages and generations but is now revealed to His saints. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Christ, himself the great mystery, unveiled many wonderful truths to His precious bride, the church. Here, Messenger Marcus preaches a prophetic sermon to a gathered congregation in a house church in Frettenham UK.

    The Royal Wedding

In Psalm 45 we have a beautiful psalm celebrating the royal wedding.  It is an inspired prophetic song concerning Christ and his bride the church:  After looking at marriage in the light of scripture, I will discuss that very sacred time called the honeymoon when each newly wed couple explore each other!

downloadPsalm 45: 10 to 16Listen to me, O royal daughter; take to heart what I say. Forget your people and your family far away.  For your royal husband delights in your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord. The princess of Tyre will shower you with gifts. The wealthy will beg your favor.  The bride, a princess, looks glorious in her golden gown.  In her beautiful robes, she is led to the king, accompanied by her bridesmaids.  What a joyful and enthusiastic procession as they enter the king’s palace!

As each Christian couple enter into marriage they need to realize that Christian marriage is a beautiful, pure, sacred thing. It is
actually a “picture” of Christ and the Church.

In Ephesians chapter 5, the apostle Paul presents the church as the Bride of Christ.
Its not often realised even in the Christian church that the husband and wife in every marriage are a “figure” or type of Christ and the church.  In every  marriage the bride is not the REAL bride; the real bride is the church of Jesus Christ. In every marriage the husband is not REAL husband; the groom is a type of the real husband, who is the Lord Jesus Christ lover, washer and protector and life of His bride the church.

Since marriage is a picture of the most sacred eternal bond, it needs to treasured and kept in purity. The writer of Hebrews wrote in chapter 13, verse 4 – Let marriage be held in honor among all, and (let) the bed be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge

    A Deep profound Truth

imagesThe reality of the church as Christ’s bride is very deep and profound. The church comes out of Christ just as Eve came out of Adam
(Gen. 2:21-22).  The first marriage was in the garden of Eden between Adam and Eve.  God put Adam into a deep sleep and then brought forth the beautiful bride, Eve. When Adam awoke he must have been so captivated by the most pure and beautiful vision of loveliness before him that e could imagine. In the same way, the Lord Jesus was put into the “sleep” of death. John chapter 19 tels us ( v34) that after our Lord died on  calvary’s cross, one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately there came out blood and water. The apostle John made specific mention of this (1 John 5:6) that not only blood came forth but blood and water also.

The blood that flowed speaks of our redemption, but the water that flowed speaks of washing by his words:
Both the blood and water came out of the Lord’s pierced side: blood and water. Blood redemption, to deal with sins (John1:29; Heb.
9:22) and  for the purchasing of the church (Acts 20:28).  Water is for imparting life, for the washing and the producing of the church (Eph. 5:29-30). The Lord’s death, on the negative side, takes away our sins, and on the positive side, imparts life into us.

When our Lord Jesus awoke ( in resurrection) from the “sleep” of death, He to like Adam was captivated by the most pure and beautiful vision of loveliness before him that He could imagine, The Church, His bride.  So we see that Just as Eve came from the side of Adam to be his bride, even so the church was birthed out of the pierced side of Jesus to be the Bride of Christ.

The Church ( coming out of Christ) has the same life and nature as Christ.   Many Christians know that husband and wife are a type of Christ and the church. However, our hearts need to see the wonder of this revelation in order that our being and our life, and marriages may be changed by it.

For every bride and groom then, the honeymoon is a pure, lovely, God ordained tender time.

The Power Of The Word of God

The power of the word of God.   It’s awesome!  We can learn to overcome by The Word.   Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God, (Rom 10:17). God's word has awesome power

It’s so important to read, believe and receive the word of God. We need to spend much time meditating on the scriptures. It’s a great practice to “ pray “ God’s word. That way it gets into your heart.

    How To Change Circumstances

Whenever you receive, take and believe the Word of God, something not being comes into being. You can prove how to change circumstances.  This is wonderful. Do not say that you are weak, for the more you say that you are weak, the weaker you become, simply because you say that you are weak. However if, by taking the Word, you say, “I am strong,” strength comes into being.
how to change circumstancesDo not say, “I have no power.” The more you say you have no power, the more powerless you become. However, if you say, “Praise the Lord that I have power through the living Word, Jesus,” you will have power, the power that things not being will come into being through the Word.

If you are afflicted with a certain illness, do not think very much about it, ….
Say, “Through the Word I am a healthy person.” If you say this, health, which had no being, comes into being.

The more you say that you lack wisdom, the less wisdom you have. Nevertheless, it is a lie that you lack wisdom. Do you not have the Word?  As long as you have the Word you must declare, “I have wisdom through the Word.” If you claim this, you will have wisdom. We have nothing in ourselves, but we have everything through the Word.receiving life through God's Word

    How To Receive Eternal Life

When Adam was created, man was made as a vessel ( an empty container) to contain God as his life. However, by creation he was merely an empty vessel; he did not have genuine life of God. When we are born of our parents we have ” biological ” life – but we do not yet have the eternal uncreated life of God himself. We need to be Born again, (John 3, 3, 5)

What kind of life did you have before you received Christ as saviour? It was, at best, a just a temporary life. It was an ” animal, biological life, Before you where born again you did NOT have real life. You did not have the permanent, uncreated life of the eternal God.
But now we are born again the life in Christ we have received is eternal, constant, and permanent. All men need such a life, the divine and uncreated life that is in Christ. This life is for man, and man is the receiver of this life.
Praise God we have been ” born again”

John 1:4 says, “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

There is power in the Name of JesusWhen we called on the name of the Lord Jesus, receiving Him into us, the divine life came into our being. Immediately we had the sense of something shining within us. That shining feeling is the shining of life. Because life shines, the life is the light of men. This shining is the strongest confirmation that we have been born of God.

John chapter one verse Verse 5 says, “And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.”

Darkness can never overcome or extinguish light, but light dispels darkness. When the light of life shines within us, darkness can never overcome it. We are Christians. We are FULL of God’s light. We are not in the darkness of ignorance, fear and unbelief and depression. We are in the light of understanding, revelation, joy, peace and faith! We are born again by receiving Jesus – “But as many as received Him, to them He gave authority to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (1:12-13).

    Being “born again” – The birth described in these verses is not the natural birth which we had through our parents;
Being ” born again” it is the second birth which occurred when we believed in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Believing in the Lord is equal to receiving Him. When I speak of receiving the Lord Jesus, you may say that you have never done that.
However IF YOU SAY THAT , I want to ask you a question: Have you not believed in the Lord Jesus? BE ENCOURAGED IN YOUR FAITH! When you heard His name, did you not believe in it?

Whenever a person truly believes in that dear name, I am certain that, in some way or other, he will say, “Lord Jesus.”
HE WILL call out to the precious and Holy Name of Jesus!
As long as you say His name from the depths of your being, it means that you believe in Him. If you believe in Him by calling on His name, it is proof that you have received Him. And since you have received Him. Since you have received Him, you have received the authority to become a child of God.
    .
    .=================================================
But as many as received Him, to them He gave authority to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13).
    ===========================================
    .
    Let’s look at verses 12 and 13 once more……..

But as many as received Him, to them He gave authority to become children of God============================================
John 1:12, 13 – But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
    =============================================
it says …. “who were born, not of blood”.

that means….. that being born into a Christian family with Christian parents does NOT make you a Christian. Your not a Christian because of your ancestry ( blood).
you have to be born again
    =========================================

it also says ,,,,, “nor of the will of the flesh “…..

That means to cannot become Christian by trying to do good things and improving yourself! God has to give you HIS new life…… and come into you and change you!
    ======================================
then it also says, “nor of the will of man” what does this mean? It means that no pastor, priest, bishop, pope or holy man can impart life to you. Only JESUS can give you the NEW LIFE. You have to come to HIM and be born again.

Yes my brother or sister.  The power of the word of God.   It’s awesome!  We can learn to overcome by The Word.   Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God, (Rom 10:17).

It’s been good to be with you this morning in this room for the short time sharing the word of God.

    The Olive Tree Symbolism

Today we are going to look together at the meaning of the olive tree; the olive tree symbolism in the bible. The Lord Jesus Christ gave me this message. He took me in my mind and heart to meditate on the spiritual lessons that this tree – often mentioned in the bible teaches us. The Lord showed me many wonderful truths as I spent time listening to Him.  For Instance He has made the reality of heaven very real to me!

Everything in scripture teaches us something; nothing in scripture is arbitary  or in the bible by chance. All scripture is given by God. Paul tells us in 2 Tim 3:16, that “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, “.  The symbolism of the olive tree is very profound!

     Olive trees biblical meaning

A HUNDRED YEAR OLD OLIVE TREE

The olive tree is very prominent in Israel and in the writings of sacred scripture. When Israel conquered Canaan under the leading of Joshua, the olive tree was a prominent feature among the flora of the land. The land was describes as – a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; (Deut 8:8).

On the outside, the olive tree may seem rather ordinary – like any other tree in its appearance and size. However the olive is remarkably strong and also remarkably resilient! It can also endure extremes of climate and drought; it can survive in arid conditions which would destroy many other trees! It is also extremely long-lived! There are trees in Israel estimated to be 1000 years old that are still producing fruit! In its old age the tree becomes hollow, but the trunk continues to grow thicker and thicker. At times its circumference can reach up to 20 feet. We will see that all these facts concerning the tree bring us messages from God.

    Olive Trees Biblical Meaning

There is an important principle in the study of sacred scripture. This principle has been mentioned by many good bible expositors. It is called ‘the principle of first reference’. What this means is that the first biblical reference to anything in the Word of God throws light upon its message, meaning, symbolism in the rest of scripture.

Noah10DoveThe first mention of the olive is found in the book of Genesis, chapter 8. It refers to Noah sending out a dove from the Ark, after the judgement by God on sinful humanity by the worldwide flood. The dove returned to Noah with a freshly plucked olive branch in its beak.

Gen 8:7 to 11 Then he (Noah) sent out a raven, which kept going to and fro until the waters had dried up from the earth.  He also sent out from himself a dove, to see if the waters had receded from the face of the ground.  But the dove found no resting place for the sole of her foot, and she returned into the ark to him, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth. So he put out his hand and took her, and drew her into the ark to himself.  And he waited yet another seven days, and again he sent the dove out from the ark. Then the dove came to him in the evening, and behold, a freshly plucked olive leaf was in her mouth; and Noah knew that the waters had receded from the earthSo he waited yet another seven days and sent out the dove, which did not return again to him anymore.

Genesis 6 and 7 records the great flood; it tells how mankind has become so wicked, so depraved, that every single imagination of every man was only evil continuously. Mankind had totally corrupted his way upon the earth and God’s heart was broken! Mankind was irrecoverable and the Lord, greieved at heart decided to destroy mankind from then face of planet Earth by means of a great and a universal flood! This flood is recorded by many cultures and peoples.

We know that one man (Noah) found favor in the eyes of the Lord. God told him to build an ark into which his wife and three sons, together with their wives were to enter when the judgement waters of the flood were poured out! Noah was NOT A PROUD man.   Like all men who are humble he was a man of strong faith.   He believed God and started to build a great ship. Noah was a preacher of righteousness and he would have repeatedly warned the men of his generation that they needed to repent and that the flood waters were coming. They mocked him – as he continued in faith you build the ark.   Finally God called Noah and his family to enter the ark and the floods, drowning every living thing upon the face of the earth was poured out!

Noah and his family were safe, borne up by the flood waters – together with the animals that the Lord had instructed Noah to take in the ark with him. When the waters finally abated and the judgement of sinful mankind was complete the ark settled on the mountains of Ararat. The word Ararat denoted holiness.  God had translated Noah and the 7 members of his family from one sinful society – one sinful ‘kingdom’ into new land of deliverance and fresh hope. Into a kingdom of deliverance and righteousness,

    The Olive Sprig and Dove

When the ark descended to mount Ararat, Noah wanted to know if the flood waters had abated from the earth.  To ascertain this he sent out birds.   First he sent out a raven and after that a dove,  The dove being a symbol of the Holy Spirit (Matt 17: ), returned to Noah.  The dove being a ‘pure’ bird still could not tolerate the muddy, messy land – so Noah knew that the waters had not yet receded from the earth.

After 7 days Noah sent out a second dove which returned to him with a freshly plucked olive leaf in its beak.  The symbolism of the olive tree is profound!  The olive was a symbol of the ” new life” that had began to reappear on the face of the earth after all the judgement and destruction.    So in this ” principle of first reference” we have a picture of new life ( the olive) brought by the Holy Spirit ( the dove) after God pours out his judgement on the earth.  Jesus will bring peace and new life in his Holy Spirit when he returns to earth after God pours out his judgement ( the waters) on a godless, sinful, Christ – rejecting world!

The scriptures also tell us that when Jesus returns to earth to set up his kingdom and bring new life and peace  his feet will stand upon (guess where?)      Yes !   The Mount of olives!

Zech 14: 3, 4 , Then the Lord will go forth And fight against those nations, As He fights in the day of battle.  And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, Which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two   ………………………..  .(v9), And the Lord shall be King over all the earth. In that day it shall be– “The Lord is one,” And His name one.

The scripture is so well integrated and tied together and every scripture passage, clarifies, enlarges on and ties in harmoniously with every other scripture!

Eternity Planted In The Heart of Man

it’d a profound fact with a deep significance that the United Nations Organization has also adopted the olive as the symbol of world peace.  The meaning and symbolism of the olive as the symbol of the new life of peace Christ will bring is implanted deep in men’s hearts!    The bible tells us that God has actually planted eternity deep in the heart of man (Ecc 3:11).  People know more of eternal things and eternal values tan they care to admit!    When unbelieving men and woman mock the wonderful gospel of Jesus Christ they are resisting the witness of God’s holy Spirit as well as truth that God has implanted deep in their hearts that they need God.  On December 7th 1946 the United Nation approved a map of the world surrounded by olive branches as the symbol of world peace.

And so, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace will return to this war-torn, disease – ridden, godless, sin-soaked rebellious earth His feet will stand victoriously on the mount of olives.  Our Lord will be King over all the earth.

    Grafted Into The Cultivated Olive

Let’s turn to another New Testament passage of scripture which talks about God’s Olive Tree.  Let’s read together Romans 11:17-24.

if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you.   You will say then, “Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.”   Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear for if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either.  Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off.  And they also  the Jews) , if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.
For if you ( gentiles)  were cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, who are natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?

In this passage of scripture, the apostle Paul uses the image of the Olive Tree to speak of the people of God.  After Jesus resurrection, originally, all the apostles and prophets of the Lord Jesus were Jews.  Later (in Acts 10) God begins to call in the gentiles.  When God calls us who are gentiles and we come to faith in Christ, he grafts us the gentiles (v17) into the cultivated olive tree – who are the true people of God.

Before Jesus was born and walked this earth the special blessings of God were reserved for Israel.  The gentiles are portrayed in scripture as being without God or any hope in the world  (Eph 2:11, 12)

Eph 2:11, 12 –Remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh–who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands- that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
