The Book of Exodus

The Book of Exodus begins the story of the life of the great leader Moses whose life is  further documented in Exodus, Leviticus,  Numbers and Deuteronomy.

Book Of  Exodus Relevance

the passover lambBetween the Book of Genesis and the book of Exodus there is a gap of nearly 300 years.   This is from the death of Joseph until the birth of Moses.

By the time of Exodus the Israelites had grown in number exceedingly and it was after the death of Joseph that a  change of dynasty cause them to be led into slavery.  At the time of the exodus there were around 600, 000 men who were above 20 years of age besides the women and children,   (numbers 1:46). This would bring the total of people to around three million.   No doubt the family records of Abraham Isaac and Jacob had been transported to Egypt and through the long years of slavery there was a steadfast and cherished promise that Canaan would one When I see the blood I will pass overday be there national home!

A Picture of Redemption

The Passover account is also an indication of the cross, giving us a clear and full  “picture” of Redemption through Christ that is a very beautiful.  This account the Passover (Ex chap. 12 ) gives us a portrait of redemption that is even more clear than in the New Testament.

I once read an account describing how the Passover lamb was slaughtered by the Jews.   In this account they took two wooden bars and formed a cross. Then they tied two of the lamb’s legs to the foot of the cross and fastened the other outstretched legs to the cross bar. Following this, the lamb was killed, shedding all its blood.  In the picture of the Passover we see the cross of oue Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.

The Value of The Redeeming Blood

The-Blood-Of-Christ-is-preciousFurthermore, as we consider the portrait of the Passover, we receive a vivid impression of the powerfulness of the blood of the Lamb of God. Exodus 12:13 says, “And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.” Such a wonderful picture is in Exodus, but not in Genesis.

The Book of Genesis

Who Wrote The Book of Genesis?

The Book of Genesis tells how God created the heaven and earth..The age-old Hebrew and Christian tradition is that Moses guided by God was the person who wrote the book of Genesis.  He composed Genesis out of ancient documents extend in his day.  The book closes something like 300 years before Moses Moses could have gotten his information only by direct revelation from God or through such historical records has had been handed down from his forefathers.

The Books In Genesis

Opening with the creation  hymn, the book of Genesis then  given 10 books of Generations which constitute the framework of the book.  It seems that these books of generations were Incorporated bodily by Moses with such additions and explanations as he may have been guided by God to make.

These eleven documents are as follows

  • Creation hymn (1:1-2:3)
  • The generations of the heavens and the earth (2:4 – 4:26)
  • The book of the generations of Adam (5:1 – 6:8)
  • The generations of Noah (6:9 – 9:28)
  • The generations of the Sons of Noah (1:1 – 11:9)
  • The generations of Shem (11:10-26)
  • The generations of Terah (11:27 – 25:11)
  • The generations of Ishmael (25:12-18)
  • The generations of Isaac (25:19 – 35:29)
  • The generations of Isaac (25:19 – 35:29)
  • The generations of Esau (36:1-43)
  • The generations of Jacob (37:2 – 50:26)

These eleven documents originally family records of God’s chosen line and kindred families which composed the Book of Genesis cover the first two Thousand Years of men’s history from the creation of man to the settlement of God’s chosen people in Egypt.

Genesis Leads Us To Christ

Through a careful use of genealogies, Genesis traces a remarkable family line that begins with Adam and ends with the 12 sons of Jacob. While occasionally other siblings are introduced into the story, they are merely branches in the family tree. The main trunk is what matters, and it eventually leads us beyond Genesis to David and then to Jesus Christ because the Lord Jesus Christ is the bible’s glorious theme.

Only Spirit Gives Life

Only Spirit gives life!   Your peace can not come from what your able to do for God by your human “fleshly” efforts,    Nor can you rely on how you are  feeling.

Peace Can only Come From Being In Christ

Peace_peaceTrue peace can only come from being “in Christ”, and knowing that you are  SECURE in him.  It is very possible to work hard to get the victory over every secret sin and still be far from God.   You can get control over every habit, tame your temper or your bad thoughts, and throw away every way of speaking ungodly and still be lost. You can appear irreproachable. But you can still be building on the wrong foundation. Your peace, and your acceptance with God can only come from your being justified by Christ.

I lived that kind of life sometimes in the past. I knew in my heart that I was saved by grace through faith; I knew that my good works could not save me. Yet, like many others I expected God to bless me based on my behavior.

Don’t Try To Earn  God’s Acceptance and Love

I used to spend the week thinking I could be worthy of God’s peace only if I had not done anything wrong. I looked back and saw that I had been kind to my wife, that I persevered in prayer and in the Word of God … and I said: “Thank you, Lord, for your peace”. And I kept thanking Him – until the next day, when I was failing God ir sinning again! My peace came and went according to my goodness – or some of my “malice”. Any kind of mistake brought me despair and loss of that peace.

Maybe you too went through this struggle. You desire so much to please the Lord and wanted him to be pleased with you. But the problem was you looked too much at your righteousness instead of looking at what Jesus has already done for you. You were judging yourself, your salvation, and your peace, based on your ability to behave well.

You thought that only if you pray fervently, read the sacred Scriptures for hours, do everything that is possible for others, only then can God smile at you. You thought, “If I can only be fearful enough of God, or feed the poor and the hungry, or be diligent, or avoid all kinds of evil – only then can I have peace!”

But, beloved, you can not make yourself righteous and justified. You can not know the peace of God through Jesus Christ until you understand what he has accomplished for you. You can only know that you are right in God’s sight through the blood shed by Jesus. That shed blood is why you are accepted by Him.

God Invites Us to Approach Him Boldly

We must pursue our peace in a very different way. Peace only comes by entering into the truth of what Christ has done for us. The Word says: “And the peace of Christ, to which you have been called to be one body, reign in your hearts, and be grateful“, (Colossians 3:15). Jesus will always continue to justify us until we meet Him in eternity!

We Know We Are Accepted In Him Because He Invites Us to Come With Courage to His Throne.  The Word of God clearly tells us that God invites us with boldness to approach his throne so that we can find help and mercy!

Heb 4: 14 to end – Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

God Is NOT Angry With You

God is NOT angry wit you! Why would God invite you to His throne if He were angry with you? You can condemn yourself because you had a bad day, you stumbled or you did something that grieved the Holy Spirit? What do you have to do in those moments? You must run to the Lord! You must say to him: “Jesus, I am repentant in my heart, and I know that You can erase all my iniquities”.

The Father has not turned his back on you. Yet too many Christians live as if they believed that He did. They live on the limit all the time, believing they are saved one day and lost the following day.

Many Christians live in highs and lows, first hot and then cold. You can never tell where they are because they do not know either. They do not have this foundation: “I am justified in the eyes of God, for the blood of the Lamb, and not only have I been made righteous to His eyes, I am also accepted as a saint in the eyes of the Father, I have a right to enter His presence! “

This is what the parable of the prodigal son consists of. In Luke’s gospel chapter 15 we read the parable of the prodigal son. The son returned homw in a terrible condition after spending all his money on prostitutes and alcohol. However when he arrived home, not only was he forgiven,hugged and kissed by his father. He was also given the finest gown and ring and invited to come into the house and sit at his father’s table to eat and party. This is a truthful image of justification – one in which we are not left to strive to please God with our abilities, to try to enter His grace.

Satan is also now accusing you before God of sins of all kinds. Infidelity, lies, dishonesty, failings. He has made a long list of every single mistake you’ve made recently.

Rev 12:10 the accuser of our brethren – which accused them before our God day and night.

Satan says to God: “How can this person be saved, if I have just seen him do what he has done? I want justice! You can not be a just God if you let him go free like that!” Satan is correct in many of his accusations! Sometimes you were wrong. Some of your actions were not for the glory of God. You did things that are not of Christ. You are not up to your testimony.

But our judge does not let himself be impressed by Satan’s slnder!. I can imagine my Heavenly Father in Heaven saying to Satan: “I do not need your accusations, father of lies! You are wasting your time, there will be no trial, you are accusing someone whom I have already acquitted. Now leave! “

God Is ” For Us”

peacyWe must not be afraid of our Judge. He is for us! Furthemore, he has erased all our transgressions:

Isaiah 38:17Behold, it was for my peace that I had great bitterness: But thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption; For thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.

Micah 7:19He will again have compassion upon us; he will tread our iniquities under foot; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

Isaiah 43:25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake; and I will not remember thy sins.

I see the King of Glory before all the accusers, proclaiming: “Who will accuse the elect of God? God is the one who justifies them” (Romans 8:33).

Many of you believers who are reading this message are living beneath your privileges. You are carrying loads of guilt and worry that you have no need to bear. God wants you to know that you are ready for heaven – you are ready for glory. And He wants you to appropriate His peace right now!

In 2 Peter 3, we read a terrible warning concerning the final destruction of the world, probably a nuclear holocaust. In it, everything will be dissolved. Yet in the midst of the most troubled times in this world, we are called to live in the peace of the Lord:

2 Peter 3:11, 12 to 14 – “All these things must dissolve … the inflamed elements will melt ..Therefore, dear ones, waiting for these things, make sure to be found by him immaculate and irreproachable, in peace.

The Wounds of Jesus Speak Of Peace

On the day we stand before Him, we will see the scars on His hands – and we will understand that the Source of our justification has done more for us than we could during a lifetime of penance. God wants us to take possession of that blessing now. He wants us to live in peace – looking at Jesus’ wounds to be able to say: “He paid for my sins, devil! You can not point to what I’ve done.” Look at the signs of the nails – look, it is He who defends the my cause, I am justified in the eyes of God! “

If you are still feeling condemned please pray, “Lord, I want to have Your peace at all costs. I do not want to hear the devil’s lies anymore, I know that my salvation does not depend on my efforts. Even if I cried a river of tears, or if I tried to be perfect according to Your law I would still be lost. I would not have gained anything! No, Jesus – you defend my cause, I rest in what You have done for me “. AMEN.

Can you say this by faith right now? “Lord, I do not want to try to earn Your grace through my works. I come to you through Christ because He is righteous, sinless – and I come to You through Jesus, my Lord.”

When you have that kind of faith God no longer sees you. He sees Christ in you. He no longer sees the “old sinful man”, the one who died when you became a new creature in Christ, (2 Cor 5:17). No, God sees only one man: man in Christ. And as Jesus is in glory, so are we also in this world – redeemed, justified and freed.

Are you worried? tired out? scared? Are you condemning yourself? If so, you do not have to live in guilt anymore. If you have confessed your sins and believe in the sacrifice of the blood of Jesus Christ, your sins have disappeared – erased. You are justified

“There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit” (Romans 8: 1). God tells you: “I do not give you fear or condemnation. It is the devil that has given them to you. Release them by faith and say,” Lord, I come to you through the blood of the Lamb. I am washed, purified, and I know that you love me “.

If you have done this, then Jesus rejoices in you, and God is satisfied with you. Here is what He says: “Come boldly in My presence  and  make me know your requests,  Ask widely, that your joy may be complete”.

This is true peace!

Jesus Is True Peace

It is impossible to have true peace without our Saviour, because only Jesus IS TRUE PEACE.   If Christ does not live inside you,  you will have no true rest!  .  It is HE LORD JESUS HIMSELF , who is our peace! Ephesians 2:14 tells us ……..

=================
Ephesians 2:14For he is our peace, he who has made only one of the two peoples and has broken down the wall of separation”

.=====================

THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF TRUE PEACE WITHOUT CHRIST

HeIsOurPeaceThere are many non-Christian sinners who say that they have peace, yet they live in sin. These people say: “I have peace, I am not afraid, I am at peace”. But their peace is not a real peace. It is not a true rest. It is an illusion, the result of a lie of Satan. It is a false peace that will damn them and destroy them!

No Rest For Those Who Forsake The Lord

In the book of Deuteronomy 29: 18-19, we read of people whose hearts had turned away from the Lord their God, to go and serve the gods of the surrounding nations. A poisonous root was growing in these people – and the Holy Spirit warned them. They were warned that they would be cursed because they had forsaken the Lord and returned to their sinful ways. This was the message:

=========================
Deuteronomy 28: 65-67You will not find rest and there will be no place of rest for the soles of your feet.  There the LORD will give you a trembling heart, eyes that are tormented and anguish of soul. Your life will stand before you as if suspended in uncertainty; you will tremble night and day and you will have no certainty of your existence. In the morning you will say: “Be it evening!”, and in the evening you will say: “Be it morning!”, because of the TERROR that will fill your heart and because of the THINGS that your eyes will see
.
===================

In addition to this curse, other words were addressed to the idolaters…..

====================
Deuteronomy 29:19 –  No one, after hearing the words of this oath, deludes himself in his heart saying:” I will have peace, even if I walk according to the stubbornness of my heart.
==================

====================
Deuteronomy 29:21 And the Lord would separate him from all the tribes of Israel for adversity, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this Book of the Law,
===============

God declares that such people can not have true peace – and that the peace they claim to have is an illusion. The Bible tells us in Isaiah chapter 57 ………

==================
Isaiah 57: 20 to 21But the wicked are like the rough sea, which can not be calmed … There is no peace for the wicked.
================

==================
Isaiah 59:8 The way of peace they have not known, And there is no justice in their ways; They have made themselves crooked paths; Whoever takes that way shall not know peace.
====================

Philosophies That Fail To Give Peace

OverwhelmedThe world of non-Christians can not handle TROUBLE AND DIFFICULTY.  The ‘Cults’ can not handle it in any other way than by denying it by DISAPPEARING  into a world of make believe. They do not face troubles and difficulty head-on. Their advice is: close in a room, meditate and abandoned to non-existence and nothingness. But such a “peace” does not last more than a couple of days, before the anxiety and worries of this world come back to submerge you.

In contrast, Jesus is most glorified in His church during the days of adversity. Those are the moments when Christianity clearly triumphs over every other religion or sect – because it is the Lord himself who faces every crisis of ours! And He grants us abundant peace in the midst of every tribulation.

Some of the most deceived people on this earth are those who proclaim peace without Christ. Theirs is a false security. If you ask a man on the street: “Do you have peace with God? Your heart is at peace?”, He will most likely answer: “Yes. I am not a Christian, but I am at peace.

Another man will tell you: “Oh, I’m fifteen years old, I have peace”. If you ask him how he has had the peace of which he speaks, he will answer: “Years ago I was in all sorts of anguishes, and someone taught me meditation.” I entered a room, and began to repeat my mantra. I have withdrawn from this world, and a spirit has descended on me as fresh and invigorating water. “

You ask him: “But what is the origin, the source of your peace? How can you know that it is authentic?”

He will answer: “I can not say where it comes from or how I receive it.What I know is that I have a calm heart, and in peace I feel happy and happy, and if I have worries, I go back to my room and repeat my mantra I close everything out “.

America today is full of Eastern doctrines, which all claim to be able to give peace in the heart. These eastern Mystics and New Age teachers call the empty mental state they seek to achieve, “NIRVANA”. But it has nothing to do with peace. On the contrary, it is a self-surrender to emptiness. God DOESN’T offer emptiness. On the contrary, he offers fullness. He gives peace like a river – which always flows, pure, and is continually renewed!

The Danger of “Reformation Conversion”

A person sometimes testifies: “I was taking a bad road.   I was hurting myself and my family.” I knew it was time for me to change – so I decided for a fresh start. I put my own bad habits aside and I started doing what is right; I now give money to the poor.   I started going to church regularly, I’m not the same person I used to be. I worked hard to make this peace I now feel and now I think God is pleased with me. “

But such a person is the victim of religious pride and self-righteousness!  The Bible states in Romans chapter 3 ……..

==================
Romans 3:20By the works of the law no one will be justified before Him.
=============

The next time this person falls into some sin, he will realize that his peace has vanished.   All his peace through self-righteousness was all an illusory dream.

The peace that comes from purley moral  striving to reform oneself  is not true peace,  It is numbness!  It is spiritual blindness. Only RIGHTEOUSNESS can produce peace, and nothing else:

=================
Isaiah 32:17The effect of RIGHTEOUSNESS will be peace, the result of righteousness, tranquility and security forever.
=====================

I’m Doing My Best

You can say, “I am not a wicked man, I do not do the things that the wicked do.” But in the eyes of God wickedness is more than just unclean sexual lusts,  heavy drinking, or drug abuse. In the eyes of God, the wicked is who knows that Christ is the source of all peace – but He rejects it and refuses Christ’s gift of free salvation. Evil is to resist Christ’s call to accept Him as the Prince of Peace.

It does not matter if you seem to be perfect. You may not drink heavily, smoke or cheat. It can even  seem to you to have almost all the good qualities that a good person should have. But if you turn your back on Christ, you are wicked in the sight of God, because you have rejected the only way of salvation. God clearly declares that there will be no peace for that kind of person.

True Peace  – The Result of Being Justified by Faith.

There must be a foundation on which our peace is based – and Scripture says that that foundation is our justification. We have peace because Jesus Christ has justified us before the Father.

=================
Romans 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ
==================

Too many Christian believers have never entered into this great peace that the Lord has promised. Beloved, we who believe we are justified – and it is important for us to understand what this important words mean, because it is the secret of our peace!

Justification by faith in the sacrifice of Christ implies two principles: first, the affirmation that my sins are erased. I was absolved of them by the blood of the Lamb. I am no longer charged because Jesus went to the cross for me and paid for them, all of them.

This justification by faith is the rock, the foundation of all peace with God. “To justify” means to declare someone innocent. It means to proclaim that his debt has been entirely paid by Christ and that God is satisfied.

======================
Rom 4:25 (Jesus) was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.
==============

Jesus has been resurrected to declare us free from all guilt!

More Than Forgiven

But being justified means much more than just being forgiven. Jesus not only washed me from all my sins – He also made me acceptable to the Father through His sacrifice. We actually become the righteousness of God in Him! This is the second big part of the justification. I have been declared innocent and without guilt – and I have also been declared a saint in the eyes of God.

Your peace can not come from what you do or how you feel. It can only come from being “in Christ”. It is very possible yo work hard to get the victory over every secret sin and still be far from God. You can get control over every habit, tame your temper or your bad thoughts, and throw away every way of speaking ungodly and still be lost. You can appear irreproachable. But you can still be building on the wrong foundation. Your peace, and your acceptance with God can only come from your being justified by Christ.

My Peace I Leave You – My Peace I Give You

Just before Jesus went  to the cross, in the upper room with his disciples, the Lord Jesus said these words.” My peace I leave you”.  He left us lasting peace.

The late  Dr. Billy Graham wrote an ” epic” book at  the time of the start of his ministry, masterfully explaining how each and every person can find this peace through The Lord Jesus Christ.   This classic book, which I highly recommend was called Peace with God.22

In this book, as well as speaking at length of  peace with God , Dr. Graham addresses such issues as life after death, the nature of faith and the Christians  future hope.

Jesus said, I leave you my peace

==============
John 14: 27 – Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
===========

All About God’s Peace

Jesus said, “I leave you peace, I give you my peace”. .  But the sad fact is that not all  Christians have discovered how to live in this sweet peace.   Some still have agitation in the he art – and live in fear!  Many  are afflicted in secret with panic, agitation and sleepless nights.  Christians should NEVER have need to fear this way!  Here is what the prophet Zachariah prophesied concerning the coming of the Messiah and the freedom from fear he would bring to us:

============
Luke 1: 75, 76 To grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies,Might serve Him without fear, 75 In holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.
============

That Is Why Jesus Came

Beloved, this is why Jesus came into the world and died for sinners; so that we could walk with God without fear, resting in His peace all the days of our life ! Every day of your life!   PEACE!

No fear, but peace in the mind and in the heart, every day of our life! This also applies to the days of suffering, agitation, trial and uncertainty. God intends us to have his peace in both happy and sad days. No matter what we have to face, we must be able to live in that peace at all times.

Zachariah added these words about Jesus: “To shine on those who lie in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our steps in the way of peace” (Luke 1:79). He was saying that Jesus would lead all His children in the path of peace – not in restlessness, in loneliness or in fear, but in peace!

Jesus is the Prince of Peace. At His birth the angels sang “Peace on earth …” His gospel is called the gospel of peace. And he himself promised as recorded in John chapter 16 …. “…

===============
John 16:33These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
====================

Peace – Received Through The Gospel

It is PEACE that we receive through the gospel: In Acts 10:36 we read ….

=============
Acts 10:36The word which He has directed unto the children of Israel, proclaiming peace through Jesus Christ”
============

Also, the apostle Paul describes the acceptable way in which believers must serve Christ.  Compare your life with what Paul describes:…………….

============
Romans 14: 17 to 19For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, for those who serve Christ in these things are pleasing to God and approved by men, so we seek to achieve the things that contribute to peace and mutual building.
=============

The Believers Trials

Every Christian experiences trialsThe scriptures clearly teach that in this world we will face tribulation, persecution and painful trials – “… fights outside, fears from within (2 Corinthians 7: 5).

We will be tempted, we will suffer for the love of Christ. The winds of adversity will try to shake the building of faith that we have built on the Rock of our salvation, which is Jesus the Lord.  But we ARE ABLE continue to serve Him with righteousness. Filled with peace and joy in the Holy Spirit – at all times. Paul’s prayer for all believers was this………….

================
2 Thessalonians 3:16 – “May The Lord of peace himself give you peace always and in every way [or circumstance] The Lord be with you all!
================

Think about it! Peace in every circumstance!
I ask you: do you have peace in every circumstance? In every hour of the day are you filled with that absolute peace?

Here is a definition of peace: inner contentment, inner calm, serenity, tranquility, being free from any struggle, at rest, having calmness in the spirit.

Unfortunately, the world does not see this serenity in many of us. In times of crisis, many believers are not dominated by a calm, unperturbed spirit. Too often others see us struck by panic, worried and frustrated.

GOD’S PLAN – PEACE IN EVERY CIRCUMSTANCE

God’s plan for His children is that we can live free of all anxieties and worries! We know this. We claim to believe it, and the Scriptures confirm it! But very few Christians have really entered that peace. Few are really free!

Here is what the Lord wants for us: This is written in the Book of Philippians 4:6 to 7 …..

==============
Philippians 4:6 to 7 Do not worry about anything, but in all things make known your requests to God in prayers and supplications, accompanied by thanksgiving, and the peace of God, which overcomes all intelligence, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus
==============

We can bring all our burdens and cares to God in prayer? I mean, really everything? I have often said that I go to God without asking him anything, but simply loving Him. But God invites us to go to Him by making him know all our requests. He is pleased to receive us! The blessing you receive after having made your prayers known is not that you come out of your room and see your prayer answered instantly – the sickness or anguish gone, and every problem solved.
Rather, it is your heart that changes because God has given you His peace

When we go to our room to pray, unloading the weights of our souls, crying and making known our requests to God – we leave OUR PRAYER ROOM, having received peace!  The disease may not have disappeared IMMEDIATELY – but WE OURSELVES have changed! Conflicts, fears, anxiety have disappeared.
